My Vision

I am starting this website with a simple “how to” description. This provides simple instructions for making a chain that can be accessible for children or adults who are going through treatment or are dealing with a sick parent.

My mother told me that when she going through treatment, she felt that the treatment rooms had a very dark and negative feel to them. I thought that if possible, the chains could be hung up in the room or in the waiting room, bringing color and and joy. This would allow the patients to rip of a link immediately after they finished their treatment. This gives them motivation and something to look forward to when going through treatment. It also gives motivation to others who see the chains and watch them all slowly disappear.

As this program develops, I would love to eventually get sponsors such as Starbucks, Baskin Robbin, or Blockbuster and when the patients accomplish milestones in their treatment, such as half way, they can receive a certificate to get a free ice cream, movie, giftcard etc to give them more to look forward too.

Another idea to help this program develop is eventually, we could hold a ceremony for the children who have accomplished their treatment. It could be once every month or every other month. During the ceremony the kids could receive some prize and recognition that they have finished their treatment. During the ceremony we could do something such as take the last link of every child’s chain, have them write their name on their link, and then link them all together. We could then hang that up as well as an additional way of motivating patients.

This would become motivation to children just starting treatment to see all the others who have made it though. This program is to help children get through this life changing process with something to look forward to and to make the treatment a little more enjoyable.
